BIOGRAPHY

Philippe LOLI has given many concerts all over the world: several tours
in Asia, in the United States, in Latin and Central America as well as everywhere in Europe in the prestigious scenes and the Festivals of guitar.

Philippe Loli was born in Monaco on November 19, 1961. He is currently a guitar teacher at the "Prince Rainier III" Academy of Music in Monaco where he studied with Pier Domenico Amerio, a disciple of Andrès Ségovia.

Philippe Loli has given numerous concerts all over the world in Asia, the United States, Latin America and Europe. In 1979, he won the "Prince Rainier III Prize" and gave his first concert with orchestra, performing Joaquin Rodrigo's Fantaisie pour un Gentilhomme with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra in the prestigious Salle Garnier. In 1994, first tour in Asia, with the Concerto of Aranjuez and the Symphonic Orchestra of Bangkok".

Several tours will follow  in China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, …

In 2011, toured all over India, in Trio with Thakur Chakaprani Singh at Sarod and Tabla" Tour in Latin America  (Ecuador "recording of the Live in South America DVD at the International Guitar Biennial of Quito", Venezuela "Premiere of the Concerto Azzurro with the Maracaibo Symphony Orchestra", Guatemala "Festival Mosaica d'Antigua", Bahamas "Latino Jazz tour with Leo Giannola", Puerto Rico, Salvador,_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_ Chile (Concerto d'Aranjuez and Concerto Azzurro with the Temuco Symphony Orchestra) Toured in the United States in 1997.

 

Concerts in Europe in prestigious stages (Berlin - Philharmonie, Frankfort - Alte Oper, Munich "Gasteig", Cordoba - International Festival of Guitarra, Monte-Carlo - Salle Garnier, Ancient Theater of Orange with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Monte-Carlo , Nice "interpretation of the works of Maurice Ohana at the Chagall Museum in the presence of the composer", Venice - Teatro La Fenice", Vienna "Tonkünstler Orchestra", Moscow "Institut Gnessin with

accordionist Christiane Bonnay and guitar festivals with Aighetta Quartet (Bath Guitar Festival, Iserlohn, Hersbruck, Arles, Radio France, Rome, Barcelona, etc.).

 

Author-composer, he is interested in all styles of music, from classical to film music.

 

In 2000, he composed the "Concerto Azzurro" for guitar and string orchestra, created with the Soloists of La Scala in Milan. Philippe Loli has also composed Bossa Nova published by Schott, a method for children published by Heinrichshofen, various pieces for guitar by Editions d'OZ, songs and world music.

After a first disc recorded with John McLaughlin at Polygram,  "Time Remembered" in tribute to Bill Evans, Philippe Loli participates in "The Promise", bringing together some big names: Paco de Lucia, Al di Meola, Sting, ... and a 3rd CD in the Concerto for 2 guitars "Thieves & Poets" by McLaughlin with Victoria Mulova, Paul Meyer, Matt Haimovitz and the Orchester del Pommerigio Musicale di Milano.

 

Among the many discs produced as a soloist, we note the complete "24 Caprichos de Goya" by Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco recorded in public and in world premiere in 1990. Anthony Burgess (1917-1993), author of A Clockwork Orange and composer, specially dedicated the Concerto for guitar and orchestra to him.
